How to Choose the Best Snow Plow Stakes for Your Needs
The right stake depends on three things: how much snow you get, what's going to hit it, and how much edge you need to mark. Here's how to pick.
1. Choose flexible

2. Match the height to your snowfall

When in doubt, go taller. A stake you can't see doesn't help.
3. Standard or heavy duty?
- Standard: our lowest price per stake. A good fit for light-duty residential marking.
- Heavy duty: 25–75% thicker walls depending on height, for more hits and more winters.
4. Add reflective tape for night plowing
Most plowing happens before sunrise. A 2" reflective band makes stakes visible in headlights. You can add it to any heavy duty or standard case, or go custom with up to three colors.
5. Figure out how many you need
Space stakes every 5–10 feet along each edge. Divide the total length of edge you're marking by your spacing, then add a few for mailboxes, hydrants and corners.
Example: both sides of an 80 ft driveway at 8 ft spacing ≈ 20 stakes, plus extras = 25.
